BLBL News: Pre-Season begins With the start of the preseason today, the baseball drought has ended ,and clubs are making their way to training facilities across The United States. There is much to do and little time before the regular season commences. Teams have to work through spring training, while general managers have roster moves to consider, young players to assess, and decisions to make about lineups and the rotation. The baseball juggernaut is starting to roll forward!
World Series Comeback Completed The Detroit Tigers, facing the prospect of being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first BLBL World Series, win four games in a row to earn the 2006 Championship. The Tigers ran away with Game 7 with a 9-run 4th inning. CF D.Penn went 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs including a 1-out double to begin the Tigers rally. Catcher R. Barajas was selected MVP for the Series batting .324 with 4 HR and 14 RBI. In the 4 Tiger wins Barajas hit 8 for 16 and 7 RBI with two doubles and a home run.
Pittsburgh Pirates Derrek Lee Captures Prestigious NL MVP Award Derrek Lee is in a comfort zone after putting together one of the brightest years of his career. The 30-year-old veteran clocked the ball at a .339 pace, racked up 86 extra base hits, 42 of which went over the fence. The first baseman for Pittsburgh tabbed 103 RBI to cinch his stranglehold on the 2006 batting award.
